"4 luni, 3 saptamâni si 2 zile" or"4 months 3 weeks and 2 days"

Romania in Chaucescu empire age. The 80's in the rest of Europe. A girl who wants to abort her pregnancy. Abortion is illegal, of course. Abortion have a penalty which is diferent depend on time of the fetus. But always it means jail penalty. A very loong time in jail. So girls who want to abort have so complicated to do it.

This movie is no about the girl who wants to abort, indeed. It more about his friend, another girl who doing everything to make it possible that she abort. But, did she all this things (really hard things, you know what i mean if you have seen this film) for something like friendship? I don't think so. Religious motifs? No, she didn't. Hence, why? Why are she involved on this situation?

Life is a strange thing. And, sometimes we look us in the mirror face of the others. I don't talk about of "the inefable face of the other" or something from Levinas stuff. I talk about to see you -maybe in a near future or in a posibility horizon- in the another body. Maybe she looks herself in the situation of her friend and think: "Woah! Hopefully I have something on a moment like this to do all this stuff..." (I say it again: Things that only do for a familliar or something and do not for a university roomate.)

This movie is enough ambiguous to please pro or anti-abortion. It's hard for the two sides of this situation. Because abortion its a hard thing for all -specially for the woman who are doing it. Must Roucco Varela believe it soon as possible. And make things for somebody on this situation on is harder when a long time in jail is a true possibility.

A dark movie from a dark age.
